‘WE HALLOW YOUR NAME’

Just a few short days ago, I had written a song called ‘We Hallow Your Name.’ Back in 2004 when the Lord began to give me songs, the theme of His holiness and being set apart was a prominent theme in several of my songs, like ‘Holy is the Lord of Hosts’ and ‘Hallowed’ and ‘Holy is the Lord’ and many other ‘holy’ songs. I remember dropping to my knees in the kitchen one day (during the years that time…it was when our children were growing up) because of an overwhelming revelation of God’s holiness.

As I was preparing to sing this new We Hallow Your Name song on our weekly 6:30 a.m. Friday morning Supreme Court Prayer Call, Sept. 1st, I began to weep as I read the words of scripture concerning ‘hallowing’ God’s name. What does it mean to ‘hallow’ God’s name? ‘Hallow’ comes from the root word (Strong’s Number 37) Hagiazo hag-ee-ad’-zo: 1. to render or acknowledge, or to be venerable or hallow 2. to separate from profane things and dedicate to God a. to consecrate things to God b. to dedicate people to God 3. to purify a. to cleanse externally b. to purify by expiation 3. free from the guilt of sin 4. to purify internally by the renewing of the soul

How often do we mindlessly take communion, or talk about God without really being ‘connected’ to Him in Spirit and Truth, aware of His holiness?

In Matthew 6:9 Jesus in teaching us how to pray, He said to use these words: ‘Our FATHER in heaven, HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME…’

Our revelation or lack of revelation of God as Father will directly influence us to hallow or NOT hallow His Name. Jesus was Father-impacted and in a holy sense, ‘motivated’ by His relationship with His Father, and SO MUST WE BE if we are to be intimately connected in fellowship and worshipping the Father in Spirit and Truth (these are the kind of worshippers the Father is seeking, Jesus said – in John 4:24).

So many have ‘father wounds.’ Just like the devil to hit a person where they need to be strong. Lord, forgive us for unfairly comparing You to our earthly fathers, mere human beings, when You are Altogether Lovely, and holy, and perfect, and our Creator, present with us ‘while we were yet unformed in our mother’s womb.’ Lord, You knit is together in the womb

and tell us in Psalm 139 that we are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ by You.

Anyways, getting back to hallowing His Name….I pray from reading this short article that we will ALL be lifted into His very presence, into a revelation of His holiness, His perfect love that absolutely casts out fear from us!

The world is changing so fast, but Father God never changes. He has given us many precious promises which we are going to NEED in the days ahead. I pray that having a revelation of His holiness and hallowing Him and His name in our own lives will keep us from compromising with the enemy, hallowing His name will keep us from fearing even for our lives….hallowing His name will cause our prayers to take on a new unction and authority as we worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

Hallowing our God’s great Name will keep us ‘sane’ and grounded when ‘insanity’ and deception is all around us. Our God is not just any god. He is the ‘only’ true God. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, He is the God of Israel, He is ‘I Am that I Am.’ He is my God. We will NOT serve false gods of any kind. We will not bow in submission to demons.
